Ebola is a very dangerous, life threatening disease that we do not fully understand yet. This is why we are alarmed by the recent outbreaks and are frightened about the outbreaks that are coming. You must be asking yourself “what is Ebola?” well let me answer that question; Ebola in humans is actually four kinds of viruses from the genus Ebolavirus. The four are Bundibugyo virus, Sudan Virus, Tai Forest Virus, and one just called Ebola virus (EBOV). However some of you might go search online and see that there are five viruses. The fifth, Reston virus, does not affect humans but has caused disease in other primates
EBOV is the most deadly among the four viruses and is our main topic. EBOV and the other viruses are related to viruses called Marburg viruses and that’s what scares scientist because these viruses and extremely deadly and painful and we have not created a cure because of lack of research on these. Being the deadliest among the four this virus it has the award of having the most outbreaks in the world. This virus affects only the bloodstream in humans and primates, because of this it’s very deadly. If gotten you have at most 16 days to live. There are however people who survive miraculously and develop an antibody to Ebola, scientists have been testing to antibodies but are unsure if having antibodies can make someone immune to repeated infections because the antibodies are said to only live for about 10 years also even if you have recovered from Ebola you still have muscle and joint pains, but on the bright side when you do survive from Ebola you can’t transmit the disease anymore.
When you get the disease the effects is internal and external bleeding causing the following symptoms, coughing of blood, vomiting of blood, blood in stool, and in the severe cases heavy bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract. The other non-blood related symptoms are feeling tired, fever, pain in the muscles and joints, head ache, and fever higher than 38.3.
Now for my thoughts on the subject after you have been taught about the virus, I think that this viruses hype in the internet is, no offence, pretty dumb. This is my thought because it’s been around since the 1960’s and people are saying “Oh no Ebola #like #caring” and people don’t actually care they only feel like they should. Imagine if someone had joked about Ebola lets say 2 years ago, people wouldn’t care the wont even know what it was, today people are “pretending” to care because they feel like they should. Don’t get me wrong I care for people that have Ebola and it sounds really painful and deadly it’s just that people are hating other people because the made a joke about it and they “care”.
On the other side I think that scientists should have been researching since the 1970’s and maybe we could’ve gotten a cure by now. The reason behind this is because most outbreaks weren’t released to the public and research was not started until later so our “protection” is when we are transferred to a hospital that is trying to save us but no actual cure, and on that note the hospital nurses are brainless because they get the disease while trying to save someone from it. Well goodbye and remember that was my opinion and that it did not mean to offend you and that your opinion counts too goodbye!
