Then and now, Gay Marriage: To accept or not?

Written by JusKo

**Definition**

Marriage is defined as a relationship between a husband and a wife. Lately, a controversial topic has been arising all over the world. It is a taboo that is slowly becoming more and more accepted throughout the world (which makes it become less of a taboo). It is the occurrence of when two people of the same sex joins together in marriage. In other words, this topic is gay marriage.

**It started from long ago**

Over the decade, countries and states (in which most of it is located in Europe and America)started legalizing gay marriage. Although there are still some countries that don't allow gay marriage, it is without a doubt getting more and more accepted as time passes by. This arouses a question to pop in my mind. Is it just a recent happening?Apparently, it isn't. Gay marriage has been happening since a long time ago. In actuality, the first 14 Roman emperors all had a homosexual relationship. It is said that the citizens would rejoice on the day of their celebration. It was accepted then so... what happened? The Christians created a law which forbid all the gay marriages. Starting from then on, gay marriage became a taboo.

**To accept or not? *Opinions included***

As I said earlier, it is slowly becoming more and more accepted. Gay marriages are being debated in courts all over the world. More than half the states in America already made it legal. The LGBT community is getting bigger and bigger. Some people still rebuke the same-sex couples but I noticed that more and more people are accepting it.

As much as I want to accept it, I don't. I am a Christian, you see. It is shown as a sin in Christianity. Deep down, I believe that it is possible for same-sex people to love each other. If only it doesn't go against the nature of God's law, then maybe I would've accepted it. But the unfortunate thing is that... it just isn't the plan of God. His plan was for men and women to join together and procreate. Gay marriage goes against that. In the end, no matter how I see it, it isn't exactly right. Although it hurts that they shouldn't be together no matter how much they "love"each other, for me, my religious beliefs goes first in my priorities list.
