Painting the World Green

Written by P. Go

One galaxy, eight planets, seven continents, and thousands of people in each one; and yet less than a third of it does anything to help save our word. We, as the people living on this world, should know that it’s the only one we’ll ever live in (and by chance, if we do somehow make it to mars before my life is over, I’d still rather die on the planet I was born on then go to any other). If we don’t take the chance to make change that’s always been there soon, we probably never will.

We are actually the only reason the Earth is not as beautiful as it once was, we create, but some of these things destroy. We live to the fullest, but what did we ignore doing so? We progress, but what do we eliminate for standing in our road to success?

Some people say that the best way to change the world to a more eco-friendly place is through the means of alternative power sources such as using nuclear or solar sources and I have to agree. It would be extremely effective; a single field of windmills can power an entire community! But why haven’t we?
One of the biggest reasons would be greed. As mortals, we know that at some point we end and subconsciously we make it a goal to succeed and complete as much as we can. Once we get a taste of the better things in life, we always want more (even if you pretend you don’t and politely decline just so you don’t ruin the kind and humble image you try to maintain.) This goes for everyone, so what do you think the people who run oil companies would just let someone take away a huge chunk out of their pay check? It would never be that easy. They would take every chance they got to take down the alternative just so that they stayed on top (often doing more than just trying to ruin the business.) In my opinion, this is the worst reason and if we get rid of this factor, a greener world would come.
Another factor would be to change our way of thinking. We often think about how we are going to make a change but how often do we actually do it? The way we think constantly shifts and focuses on the object that appeals to us more. This hinders our productivity towards our original goal.
We need to do. If you say “I’ll try.” What’s the point? Trying is almost as bad as not doing it at all; it’s shouting for help as a fire burns your house down, it’s standing in a crowd that protests but never makes a change. You, I, and everyone need to make it a goal to fix this world and stick to that goal. Take action, don’t wait for the right moment that’ll never come.
We need to take responsibility for our actions and make a change. We need to think “Go green!” and not say it. And when you get the chance, take it. It begins with us as the generation of 2000 to make a better place for the future for the next generation. If we do everything we can, we can fix all our mistakes and cover up the bare lands with the bright lush green it used to be and still progress. Let’s paint the world green!
