Phones,
Laptops, Cars, Toasters, Coffee Press, these are objects we use every single
day. We use our phones to scroll through Twitter, check how much Instagram
likes you got, and so on. We use our cars to get to the mall, to the school, or
to the nearest milk tea place. Little do we know that these objects contribute
to climate change. Our cars emit carbon dioxide, our phones use up electricity,
all the things we use at home contribute to climate change.
I have to admit, I didn't know these before until I clicked on an article and learned twice that than when I was in 7th grade. I was shocked knowing that just by charging my Itouch, I already contribute to Mother Earth’s destruction. Not only do we contribute but also the evolution of technology. What exactly happens when we contribute to climate change? Habitats of animals are destroyed, they die, people die, and other things you can ever think of. You see, this all reflects on us.
Whether you like it or not, you too
contribute to climate change. If we contribute to the world’s destruction, then
the least we can do is fix it too. There’s a rule: “Put things back the way you
found them”. This applies to us. The world was once a beautiful place, we lived
in it, and we destroyed it, so it’s our job to put it back the way we found it.
The big question is how. How do we fix it to the way it was before? One way it
to lessen it is to lessen the use of our gadgets, and yes, I know it will be
really hard but think about it, who would benefit? It’s us, right? Now, instead
of using your car to get to school which is a couple of blocks away why not
just ride your bike or just simply walk? Why waste gas and emit carbon dioxide
when you can walk a few blocks and besides, that’d get you in shape. The last
thing we can do is to replace our appliances with solar powered ones cause
let’s face it, when we first discovered solar powered lights we were amazed
because I was, I was stunned by how incredible it was. Instead of using
electricity, why not use the light energy of the sun to power not only our
appliances also our lights!
Do you remember when the teacher told
you when you were in 4th grade that the polar bears are slowly dying
because of the melting of the ice caps? We all felt sad and died a little bit
inside just thinking of the polar bears drowning. I couldn’t stand the thought.
The cause of this is climate change! Don’t you see? Climate change was already
happening before it became the big issue it is today! The root cause of the
melting is because of the heat, chemicals, or the greenhouse gas. Sound
familiar? This is like a globe around our world which causes the heat that goes
out the surface of the earth and goes back inside! We all suffer because of our
own mistakes! We are the ones who get affected.
If we don’t act now, then when will
we? In 2 years? 10 years? We have to act this instant! Every day, the world
gets destroyed little by little. Don’t we care about our world? Don’t we
realize that we have nowhere else to go once this world is gone? I don’t want
to lose this world. Let’s all do our part in healing this world. Let’s put our
world the way we found it. Let’s put earth the way it was before. What would
happen once it’s gone? What’s going to be left for us? What’s left?
